Week 35 - Overland Park

Hello people that still read this email:) I love you all so much and appreciate the prayers and support you send my way.  You're all amazing and if you ever need anything send me an email and I will do my best to help and support you!

Well this has been a week full of fun:) I have no idea where to start.... well we arrived to p-day last week and they told us right then and there that we were on walk week... OH BOY everything we planned went out the window because our area is huge! But its okay because we saw amazing blessings that came from walk week.

One moment we had this week was a TWO HOUR long discussion (we probably said 5 words each) with a JW (Jehovah Witness). Well that is definitely something that we didn't have in the plans for the day.  Here's the story.... We had district counsel that morning and Sister Erickson and I were both not feeling the best,  on our way home the ward missionary called us and asked if we could come over.  This ward missionary has grand kids that aren't members, so when they are home she likes to have us come and talk with them!  Which is awesome, Sister Erickson and I hurried over excited to hopefully start teaching them.  Well we walked in and it wasn't her grand kids..... It was her brother Abraham (JW). He is probably the sassiest person I have ever met.  We sat down and he said I want to know more about this church and who ordained Joe Smith to be a prophet?   Then he went off for about 2 hours on all different topics.  He honestly didn't even let us answer his first question.  Total Bible bash.... well he was trying but Sister Erickson and I just let him bring down the hammer as he liked to say it.  By the end of the discussion we had him committed to read the Book of Mormon we said that we would love to teach him more, "IF " he was willing to listen to us...:) So yes that happened..... What hurt the most is that he started mocking the First Vision and honestly I could of cried because that experience holds such a special place in my heart and my love for the prophet Joseph Smith.
Yesterday at church the ward missionary told us that Abraham was all the way in Ether! yes in two days! crazy, she said that he is highlighting and saying that he is learning a lot. So we are just praying that he has a change of heart the next time we see him, we are going to try and get President Love to come with us as a team up.

Oh we also got him committed to watch General Conference this coming weekend.

No,  the hardest things of being in the mid-west. is being in the the bible belt. But just like it says in the scriptures.... "You will be hated because of my name"..... OR something to that effect and to be 100% honest let them hate me, because I will never be ashamed of the name I represent. This is a quote that my companion found after that experience with Abraham...

"by controlling out reactions, being calm and temperate, and avoiding contention, we will begin to qualify for the gift of meekness."

That is why the lord allows us to go through these bible bashes..... its an opportunity to become more like my savior. So i am now grateful for those moments. Even when i just want to cry because the things he is attacking is stuff I hold so dear to my heart.

Okay now who is excited for conference?!
Because i am so excited! its like Christmas for a missionary.  Sister Erickson and I have been extending invitations to prepare for general conference.
(AND SOMEONE TOLD OUR MISSION PRESIDENT TO BUCKLE UP)
The invitation that we have been extending is to pray everyday and ask Heavenly Father to prepare you for general conference in that you will be able to receive personal revelation.  I truly believe that President Nelsons talk last conference, on person revelation and the importance there of, is for our benefit. The world is getting scary and we more then ever, need to stretch our spiritual complexity.  So my challenge to you is to pray and seek revelation, to read President Nelsons talk on revelation from last conference to prepare.

This work is amazing and I'm just so grateful to be apart of it. We got two new people we are working with and one of them, we are going to Liberty Jail this Tuesday with! Im so excited to go!
We have 7 recent converts in this ward and I love them so much! The work is hastening!

Well I love you all so much,  you are all in my prayers!
